About Bob Krantz - Custom Woodworker/Artist

Krantz Design is really a twofold business. I do commission furniture and cabinetry, and I have a line of proprietary furnishings which I sell through a limited number of retailers and at Art Fairs and Furniture Shows. The thrust of my business has always been and continues to be custom made furniture, my proprietary items stemming from designs and experiences in my business. My best selling pieces are the folding tray tables, which I call Nomadic Tables. I have sold over 400 sets in the past five years, the tops inset veneers ranging from radical Redwood Burl to Birdseye Maple, and surrounds from Maple to Wenge. But now a new and much cheaper contender has come forth, the Folding Bookstand. I have opened this website to accommodate the many customers that would prefer to view my products from the convenience of they’re computer. To order, I can be contacted by email or by phone, when I am not at a Show or Art Fair. I Have many happy customers from many different walks of life, and I hope you will consider becoming one of the people who decides to purchase that special piece of furniture that only Krantz Design offers. All of my designs are original, and I am quite proud of that fact. If you see something similar elsewhere, it is probably a knock off of one of my designs.

Krantz Design History

Located in North Lake, WI, Krantz Design has been in business since June 1985. My first project was a big one. We Produced all of the executive furniture for Quad Marketing, a subsidiary of Quad Graphics. This ended up being a large job with over 200 pieces of custom furniture for all of the executives in the office along with the board room and reception area. The company was eventually bought by Rupert Murdock, so now from time to time Rupert Murdock sits at a conference table that I made. I ended up doing all of Quad Graphics outside offices, until they opened they’re own cabinet shop in the mid 90’s. The special emphasis in my work is on Mission or Craftsman Style furniture, and I also feel comfortable in the Deco and Contemporary styles. Free standing furniture and Built in cabinetry are at the forefront of my building experience. But you can’t build great furniture without a great design, and I feel without question that this is my strong suit. So take a look at the gallery and at my proprietary pieces, and enjoy your visit.
